Geocaching

COMPASS

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting activity

Participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called “geocaches” or “caches”) anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container (usually a Tupperware or ammo box) containing a logbook and “treasure,” usually toys or trinkets of little value.

Geocaches are currently placed in over 100 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica. Learn more at Geocaching.com.

If you are interested in placing a cache in the Park District, follow these instructions:

  1. Find a suitable location for the cache.
  2. Complete and submit the GEOCACHE APPLICATION or obtain one from our Park Office located at 1682 Slabtown Road, Lima, OH 45801.
  3. Once the cache site has been approved you will be notified by phone, e-mail or snail mail whether or not it has been approved. Once the cache has been approved you may list it on the Geocaching website.

If you have any questions please contact the Park District office at 419-221-1232 or jampd@jampd.com.
