Hiking opportunities abound in the Johnny Appleseed
Metropolitan Park District. Nearly every park has hiking
trails with surfaces ranging from grass to wood chips to stone
and/or asphalt. Please check the individual areas under
"Parks and Facilitis" for detailed information.
Biking is available along the Riverwalk, a 13.28 mile paved
bikeway extending from Heritage Park in Shawnee Twp. through the
City of Lima to the Ottawa Metro Park in Bath Twp. Following
the Ottawa River Corridor, the Riverwalk connects Lima's Collett
St. Recreation Area, Hover Park, Faurot Park, and Schoonover Park,
as well as the Lima Family YMCA and Lima Senior High School.
In Western Allen County, an improved trail for hiking and biking
runs from Spencerville south to the Deep Cut Park along the
historic Miami Erie Canal.
