The 21st Apple Festival will be held at the Allen County Farm Park on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from Noon to 6 p.m. at the Allen County Farm Park (located on the corner of Slabtown Road & St. Rt. 81)

Smell the aroma of delicious apple butter being cooked "from scratch" in a copper kettle over an open fire.  Demonstrations will be given on antique cider pressed showing the old fashioned way of making apple cider. Pioneer craftsmen will demonstrate their talens of basket weaving, woodcarving, soap making, quilting, rug hooking and gourd bird houses.  Take a stroll through the crafters tent, where many unique handcrafted items will be available to purchase.

Saturday & Suanday's entertainment will feature performances by the Vernon McIntrye's Appalachian Grass Band and the Spanky Moore Band.  Stop by the one room school house and enjoy storytelling of years past by the Johnny Appleseed Yarn Spinners Guild.

Youth will enjoy the large children's area where they can paint a pumpkin, roll their own marble from clay, make a rag doll plus many other unique activities to participate in.

It wouldn't be an Apple Festival without the apples!  There will be an apple pie contest, apple cider, apple butter, apple desserts, and the apple eating contest!  Homemade ice cream, sugar corn popped over an open fire, chicken dinners from Daryl & Daryl's and many other taste-tempting foods will be available.

Kids of all ages can mine for gemstones and fossils at the mining sluice, enjoy the petting zoo, and particpate in conests.  Visit the fontiersman encampment while enjoying a ride on a tractor or horse-drawn hayride.  Other opporntuinites include outdoor cooking deonstrations, pony rides, simulated hunting scenario using laser guns, plus so much more!

Apple Festival is fun for the entire family and most activities are free . . . a deal that can't be beat!
